News Headlines

  • DC has dropped the major announcement that they will launch 24 new series in June following the universe combining Convergence event. There will be an additional 25 titles that remain as ongoing books. More on that in a moment.
  • Still on events, Marvel will launch A-Force, the first all-female Avengers book as part of Secret Wars. It will be co-written by G. Willow Wilson and Margaurite Bennet, with art by Jorge Molina.
  • Marvel has announced a new exclusive agreement with Brian Michael Bendis, affirming his ongoing committment to comics. However, he has also announced that he will be leaving Uncanny X-Men and All-New X-Men
  • A live action Astro Boy adaptation of  Osamu Tezuka’s manga is in development with Australia’s Animal Logic Entertainment partnering with Japan’s Tezuka Productions
  • In a classic case of corporate trolling, Marvel has revealed April will be WTD? (or ‘What the Duck?’) variant covers month, celebrating the return of the cosmic waterfowl to comics
  • Milo Ventimiglia of Heroes fame has joined the cast of Gotham in a recurring role as Jason Lennon, aka the Ogre.
  • Oz Comic-Con has added Star Trek‘s Marina Sirtis, Doctor Who‘s Billie Piper and comic book writer and artist Francis Manapul to April’s Perth and Adelaide shows. American Horror Story actress Naomi Grossman has also been added to the Melbourne show in June.
