Cover Story: Best Comic Book Covers of April 2015

Uncanny Inhumans #0 (Marvel) - Artist: Christian Ward

Each month, hundreds of comics are released to stores for the hungry masses of fans around the world. To stand out on the shelves, you have to put the great art up front. You can judge a book by its cover.

Cover StoryWelcome back to our continuing monthly column. This month had some corkers, so let’s get cracking.

DC’s Convergence has provided current and legendary artists ample opportunities to play with any and all of the classic characters, and the chance for readers to see Bill Sienkiewicz highlight Huntress, Mike Allred bring his unique style to The Flash, and Rafael Albuquerque stun with a frame-worthy Hawkman cover. Mark Brooks draws inspiration for his continuing run of stellar covers on Ant-Man, but he’s not the only one inspired by the classics this month: Marvel’s WTD (What the Duck?) variants were almost impossible to choose from. In the end, it’s Christian Ward’s spin on Edvard Munch’s The Scream that slipped into this column, but you should check them all out immediately. Other highlights include the very Escher-esque Allred cover for Silver Surfer, the retro piece Erica Henderson did for The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, and a mind-blowing cake service on the cover of Adventure Time.
