Cynthia Addai-Robinson is Amanda Waller in ‘Arrow’ Season 2

Cynthia Addai-Robinson

Cynthia Addai-Robinson Spartacus actress Cynthia Addai-Robinson has been cast as Amanda Waller in the second season of Arrow. According to TV Guide, her potentially recurring role is slated to begin in Episode 6 of Season 2, where she works for A.R.G.U.S. and heads up the Suicide Squad.

In the comics, Waller leads A.R.G.U.S. as a kind of anti-Nick Fury, often proving to be a foe to the Justice League as much as a friend. Indeed, in the current New 52 run, she has created a team specifically designed to bring down the Justice League. Here she is said to be bringing together the Suicide Squad with Deadshot (Michael Rowe), introduced in the first season, teaming up with new character Bronze Tiger (Michael Jai White).

Seemingly basing her look on the more svelte New 52 redesign of the character, she joins Pam Grier, CCH Pounder and Angela Bassett, who have played the character in Smallville, the animated Justice League and Green Lantern respectively.

Addai-Robinson, whose previous credits include The Vampire Diaries, will join a cast that has already expanded to include Caity Lotz as Black Canary, Kevin Alejandro as Sebastian Blood, Michael Jai White as Bronze Tiger, Bex Taylor-Klaus as Sin, and the yet to be cast The Flash throughout the series.

Arrow returns to The CW on 9 October 2013.
