Eisner Awards 2013 Nominations Announced

Comic-Con International (Comic-Con) has announced the nominations for the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards for 2013.

Leading the pack with 5 nominations a piece include Best Graphic Album–New nominee Building Stories by Chris Ware (Pantheon), along with Behind the Panels favourites Fatale by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips (Image) and Hawkeye from Matt Fraction and David Aja (Marvel).

Fantagraphics has the most nominations for a publisher with 24, including You’ll Never Know, Book 3: A Soldier’s Heart, by C. Tyler which is also up for Best Graphic Album–New. Unsurprisingly given the year they’ve had, Image follows with 17 (plus 1 shared), including 3 nominations for Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples’s Saga (Best Continuing Series, Best New Series, Best Writer).

It is perhaps unsurprising that DC Comics only earned 2 nomination in total, although it should be said that Hawkeye accounts for 5 of Marvel’s total of 7 nods.
