Élodie Yung cast as Elektra in Marvel’s ‘Daredevil: Season 2’

Marvel has officially announced that Élodie Yung has been cast as Elektra in the second season of Marvel’s DAREDEVIL, set to debut on Netflix in 2016.

The French TV and film actress, best known outside Europe for for G.I. Joe: Retaliation and District 13: Ultimatum, will play the mysterious figure from Matt Murdock’s past, “whose dangerous and exotic ways may be more than he can handle.”

Elektra was first introduced in Daredevil #168 (January 1981) by Frank Miller as an assassin and love interest for Daredevil, an equal in body and spirit. Her final confrontation with Bullseye is arguably one of comic history’s greatest moments. Her restoration to the Marvel universe, as a solo character and a member of the Thunderbolts, has been understandably controversial.

She was last portrayed by Jennifer Garner in the 2003 adaptation of Daredevil, and the 2005 spin-off film Elektra, both of which received mixed reviews.

DAREDEVIL will return to Netflix in 2016.
