With a teaser trailer due out later in the week, Marvel has released the first poster for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the sequel to both Captain America: The First Avenger and The Avengers. The trailer due out this week is probably one of the more anticipated looks at what has been a pretty closely guarded film until now. What do you think about the poster and the costume? Fans have been quick to point out that the costume is closer to the functional design of the Captain America: The First Avenger outfit, distinct from the tight-fitting and brighter look of the The Avengers uniform. As this sequel is set to go to some dark places, ‘star spangled’ is just not chic in this case.
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, the film picks up where The Avengers left off, with Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) still working out where he fits in the 21st century and teaming up with Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson). The S.H.I.E.L.D.-heavy plot will also star Sebastian Stan, Frank Grillo, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Toby Jones, Emily VanCamp, Hayley Atwell, Maximiliano Hernández, Robert Redford and Georges St-Pierre.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier is released on 4 April 2014 from Disney.
