In addition to Wolverine: Japan’s Most Wanted, a new 13-part digital series that begins today, Marvel has announced a new weekly digital series beginning in October. Written by Kieron Gillen with Al Ewing and Lan Medina on art duties, Iron Man: Fatal Frontier will be a mobile specific story that ties directly into the continuity of the monthly book.

Original weekly digital series are beginning to come thick and fast now, with DC Comics committing to DC2 and DC2 Multiverse with titles like Batman ’66, or Image Comics with Scatterlands. It’s an exciting time for readers of comics, as we witness the very medium of comics changing before us. We foresee a time when print comics are merely collectables, with the nature of art style and production and even the writing adapting to accommodate the digital landscape.

Here’s what the official press says. Some preview images follow.
