Oz Comic-Con 2014: Melbourne cosplay photos and more

Oz Comic-Con 2014 - Melbourne cosplay

Has it really been a year since we last hit the Royal Exhibition Hall in Melbourne for the first day of last year’s Oz Comic-Con? And a year and a day since we went on the second day too? The short answer is yes, so it was time to head south of the New South Wales border and invade Victoria for a few days of unfettered geek hedonism.

Oz Comic-Con turned 3 this past weekend (5 and 6 July 2014), and amongst the regular Harley Quinns, Poison Ivys and Jokers (all of which were brilliant), there were some designs we’d not seen before. Awesom-O from South Park was an early surprise, along with a very cool Leelo from The Fifth Element. Characters from Frozen were naturally popular this year, although the Melbourne weather let them prove the cold never bothered them anyway. There was even an Eighth Doctor from Doctor Who! Of course, Richard’s most bizarre incident came by encountering writer Tom Taylor and Game of Thrones‘ Kristian Nairn (HODOR!) in a lift. That’s a tale for another day.

We need to give a massive shout-out to the good people at Oz Comic-Con, The Hub Productions and Blue Planet PR for putting on this amazing event, welcoming us as media and providing us with access to guests. An exclusive interview with DC’s Earth 2 team of Tom Taylor and Nicola Scott (pictured below) and Wolfgang Bylsma (Gestalt Comics) can be heard from our upcoming 100th Episode Spectacular!
