Oz Comic-Con 2014: Sydney and Brisbane launch in September

Oz Comic-Con 2014

We love Oz Comic-Con. You can tell because we keep turning up to them. So you can imagine how excited we are that Australia’s best ‘Con is coming to our home town of Sydney, and to our Brisbanian cousins in north. It’s more fun than a banana sandwich in your duffle coat. (If that doesn’t sound fun, think of a fun thing and substitute that in your coat pocket).

Seriously though: where else in Australia are you going to see William Shatner (yes, the William Shatner), the voices of Winnie the Pooh and Goofy, get your work appraised by Marvel talent scout C.B. Cebulski, sit down with a variety of local writers and artists who are producing world-class comics, or find one of fifty Harley Quinns, Poison Ivys or the cast of Frozen to take selfies with? Apart from the Oz Comic-Con shows in Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne? Nowhere, is the answer. So do yourself the biggest favour every, move your mouse finger slightly to the right and buy some tickets for the Sydney or Brisbane shows.

If that’s not incentive enough, the entire Behind the Panels team will be there all weekend to chat with listeners and readers, and maybe (just maybe) you might catch a glimpse of the finest beards in this big, flat country of ours. Stop faffing and start Oz Comic-Con buying. NOW.

Here’s some of that official press stuff:

The countdown is on! There are just six weeks until the debut Oz Comic-Con Brisbane show on September 6-7, with the first ever Oz Comic-Con Sydney following a week later on September 13-14.  After the huge success of Oz Comic-Con Melbourne (July 5-6) and Oz Comic-Con Adelaide (April 5-6) and Perth (March 28-29), the stage is set for two huge new shows in two of Australia’s biggest capital cities.

Oz Comic-Con brings pop culture lovers the best in retro and trending film, TV, comic books, graphic novels, anime and gaming. Already this year Oz Comic-Con has given fans in Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne the chance to meet celebrities such as Benedict Cumberbatch, Shannen Doherty, Robert Englund, Richard Dean Anderson, Amanda Tapping, Jewel Staite, Arthur Darvill, Jennifer Morrison and Game of Thrones stars Daniel Portman and Kristian Nairn.

Headlining the Sydney and Brisbane shows is Star Trek icon William Shatner, known for his legendary role as Captain James Kirk in the enduring sci-fi franchise, as well as his hilarious turn as Denny Crane on Boston Legal. Also heading to the East Coast will be Twilight and X-Men star Booboo Stewart, Stargate SG-1 favourite Chris Judge and many more stars from across the realms of film and television, including the voices of Winnie The Pooh, Jim Cummings, and Goofy, Bill Farmer.

More exciting names will be added to the line-up as the Brisbane and Sydney events approach, with pop culture devotees sure to mark the dates in their calendars as not to be missed.
