‘Suicide Squad’ Comic-Con trailer officially released online

Suicide Squad Trailer

After an inevitable leak of the Comic-Con International (aka Comic-Con San Diego) footage from SUICIDE SQUAD, Warner has officially released a trailer from the forthcoming film. It follows a new Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer also released at the massive temple of geekery.

The trailer features each of the main players being assembled to the ethereal strains of a cover of the Bee Gees’ “I Started A Joke.”  In no particular order, it shows Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Karen Fukuhara (foreground) as a pretty accurate Katana, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Will Smith as Deadshot, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbajeas Killer Croc, and Jay Hernandez as El Diablo. We also see our first footage of Viola Davis as Amanda Waller.

Perhaps the most exciting part for fans, apart from some lingering additions to the evolution of Harley Quinn’s screen presence,  is the first proper footage of Jared Leto’s The Joker. It will do little to assuage the fears of commentators that thought the first photo indicated an “emo” spin on the character, his presence here being somewhere between the manic familiar and something more uncomfortable. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in the full film.

SUICIDE SQUAD is released in cinemas on 5 August 2016 from Warner.
