Warner has released (via Newsarama) a full trailer for their next animated film, Justice League: Throne of Atlantis, featuring Aquaman (voiced by Matt Lanter).Following a teaser at the end of Justice League: War, first sequel to that DC Animated Original Movie has now bubbled to the surface.
Following the events of Justice League: War, and the assault on Earth by the forces of Apokolips,underwater dwellers Orm and Black Manta make their moves against the surface world. The Queen of Atlantis searches for her other lost son, a child of both worlds, who she believes can remedy this situation. Arthur Curry knows nothing of his destiny, until it is thrust upon him.
In Justice League: War, Aquaman was replaced by Shazam for story purposes, but that seems to have been part of a strategic plan to highlight Aquaman in his own outing. Could it possibly be that a certain upcoming film from Zack Snyder is the reason for the sudden revival?
Directed by Ethan Spaulding (Son of Batman), it also stars an impressive cast that includes Sam Witwer (Orm/Ocean Master), Chris Gorham (The Flash), Jason O’Mara (Batman), Shemar Moore (Cyborg), Rosario Dawson (Wonder Woman), Jerry O’Connell (Superman), Nathan Fillion (Green Lantern) and Sean Astin (Shazam).
Justice League: Throne of Atlantis is due out in the (US) Spring 2015.
