Warner has blinked in the expensive game of chicken it was playing with Disney, moving Zack “Snack” Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to 25 March 2016. It was originally due to be released on 6 May 2016, leaving Captain America 3 free to dominate the box office in the early US summer months.
This is the third time the film has been shifted, originally pegged for 17 July 2015, before being pushed back 10 months to its first 2016 date. It will now be going up against Brett Ratner’s Beverly Hills Cop.
Even more exciting is the news that Warner has pegged out dates for an additional 9 films based on DC Comics properties. While none of the titles have been announced yet, it has long been rumoured that these films will at least include a Justice League event title. A list “leaked” earlier this year indicated “Shazam”; “The Sandman”; “Justice League”; “Wonder Woman”; a Flash and Green Lantern team-up; and “Man of Steel 2” were on deck for release.
