News Headlines
- At New York Comic-Con, Marvel announced their next big event: Secret Wars from writer Jonathan Hickman with art by Esad Ribic. The series will begin in 2015 and last a year!
- Other Marvel NYCC announcements included a new “Spider-Gwen” ongoing series and another event with a familiar label: “No More Mutants”. Both will commence January 2015.
- Tim Seeley will make his Vertigo debut in January 2015 with a new ongoing series called Effigy
- Still on Vertigo, Gail Simone will launch Clean Room next year, an ongoing horror thriller with “2000AD” artist Jonathan Davis-Hunt
- The long-running manga series Naruto will end next month after 15 years. The series has published over 70 volumes, and inspired an anime series, several films, video games and lots and lots of merchandise
- Marvel will also release a new Unbeatable Squirrel Girl ongoing series in January 2015 from writer Ryan North and artist Erica Henderson
- Dynamite will begin to publish James Bond comics starting in 2015
- It’s the Archie crossover we’ve been waiting for! Archie Comics and Dark Horse have announced Archie Meets Predator, coming US spring 2015 from writer Alex De Campi and artist Fernando Ruiz
- Grant Morrison is set to bring his film project “Sinatoro” to comics, courtesy of Black Mask Studios. in April 2015
- Dark Horse Comics will launch a brand new Groo series in January from the classic creative team. It will be called Groo: Friends and Foes
- Syfy has picked up the Image Comics series Five Ghosts for a television adaptation
- Warner Bros. has fast-tracked a LEGO Batman movie for 2017 ahead of The LEGO Movie 2
- Actor Martin Donovan has been cast in Marvel’s Ant-Man in a reportedly “pivotal role”
- Adi Shankar, executive producer of Dredd has secretly filmed a seven-part miniseries that will serve as an unofficial spin-off of the film
- The Walking Dead, which begins its fifth season this week, has been renewed for Season 6
- Finally, according to actor Robert Downey Jr., Iron Man 4 may or may not be happening, depending on which chat show he is on. He has, however, confirmed he will be appearing in more Marvel films in the future
