Last month we hit up SMASH! Sydney Manga and Anime Show, where thousands of fans, cosplayers and other punters turned up on a beautiful sunny Saturday at the Sydney Convention Centre at Darling Harbour. One of our favourite things is seeing all of the cosplayers who are enthusiastically showing their geek pride.
Richard and David chatted with some good folks who told us their cosplay stories, including what dressing up means to them. Cosplayers didn’t confine themselves to just anime and manga, with Huntress, Ms. Marvel and of course, Deadpool. We also spoke with Susan Ma, one of the representatives from SMASH!, about the way the con has expanded over the years. We need to thank Susan and SMASH! for their generous time and granting us media access.
David has been busily editing together all of the footage we got, and now we can present this awesome video about cosplay in Australia. We need to thank all the people who participated, and if you spot yourself in the video, be sure to leave a comment below!
Don’t forget: we also took a stack of cosplay photos on the day, which you can check out here.
