DC Comics (via an exclusive arrangement with CBR) has announced that the dynamic duo of a creative team that is Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner will be joining forces once again on Harley Quinn, a new series set to launch in November. The team will co-write their first ongoing with a yet-to-be-named artist.
Palmiotti says that their take on the character will spin out of her existing appearance in New 52 Batman books and, of course, Suicide Squad. “We took a good long look at the New 52 version and then applied it to what we were going to do in the series. Harley is a complex character and we are going to build on her background, motivations and her home and supporting cast. Sort of what we did with Power Girl but with a mix of a bit more homicidal maniac added in.”
“Like Jimmy always says,” added Conner. “A villain almost never believes that they are the bad guy. They usually think that they’re doing something for the greater good, or that they’re downtrodden and trying to overcome their repressors, or more than likely, they just want something.”
One thing is for sure: if our visits to recent cons is anything to go by, then the menagerie of Harley Quinn cosplayers are going to have another new look to add to their repertoires!
