The New York Post has revealed that the recently deceased Damian Wayne will return in a new limited series Damian: Son of Batman in October, written and illustrated by Andy Kubert.
The four issue series will be set in “a potential future where Damian Wayne takes on the mantle of the Bat”.
Kubert told the Post:
“I had a big affinity for Damian when I drew Batman issue #666 (in 2007),” Kubert told Parallel Worlds. “I really liked that Batman and always wanted to revisit him. Damian is a bit different than the ‘Bruce Wayne’ Batman. Grant Morrison tweaked his character in a way that made it very endearing for me to draw. And to write. Basically, what I’m doing is exploring the path that Damian has taken to become Batman. I think readers will see him in a different light than before.”
DC Comics killed off the character in Batman Incorporated #8, written by creator Grant Morrison. The event had a ripple effect across the entire DC line, including some excellent “Requiem” issues, including Batman #18 and the silent Batman and Robin #18.
Damian: Son of Batman #1 goes on sale digitally and in print on 30 October 2013 from DC Comics.
