He’s been unofficially official for some time now (some may call this the Vin Diesel Phenomenon), but Fox has confirmed that Channing Tatum is Gambit. He’s also got his own film coming on 7 October 2016.
Variety confirms that Tatum will star in a solo GAMBIT film, spinning off from the X-Men franchise next year. This means it will only come a few months after X-Men: Apocalypse on 27 May 2016. With the Untitled Planet of the Apes Movie moving back to 2017, it makes Fox’s tentpoles a little more superhero focused.
Meanwhile, even though we haven’t seen a single frame, logo, or poster from the Fantastic Four reboot, they have confirmed that FANTASTIC FOUR 2 is scheduled to drop on 2 June 2017 (according to SuperHeroHype).
Gambit was last seen in X-Men Origins: Wolverine portrayed by Taylor Kitsch. The character first appeared in 1990 in Uncanny X-Men #266, from writer Chris Claremont and artist Marc Silvestri. Earlier rumour indicated that he could appear as early as X-Men: Apocalypse.
