Following the announcement that Barry Allen/The Flash would appear in the second season of Arrow, serving as a backdoor pilot to his own series, we now have the official announcement that Grant Gustin has been cast as the speedster hero. The Arrow episodes are expected to begin filming at the end of the month.
As previously confirmed, Gustin will appear in episodes 8, 9 and 20 of the upcoming season of Arrow. He will initially appear as a forensic scientist who later gains the power of super speed.
The 23-year-old actor is best known for his recurring roles of Sebastian Smythe in Glee and Campbell Price in the 90210 reboot. He will next be seen on the big screen in Kevin Asch’s Affluenza.
He’s part of an expanded cast that will include Cynthia Addai-Robinson as Amanda Waller, Caity Lotz as Black Canary, Kevin Alejandro as Sebastian Blood, Michael Jai White as Bronze Tiger and Bex Taylor-Klaus as Sin.
Arrow returns to The CW on 9 October 2013.
