Returning for another year is GRAPHIC, a weekend of graphic storytelling, animation and music at the Sydney Opera House on 4 – 7 October. This year’s lineup includes an all award-winning line-up of Grant Morrison, ex-My Chemical Romance frontman and writer Gerard Way, the legendary Art Spiegelman and artist Dave McKean. There’s even a live performance of Seth Green’s Robot Chicken on stage!
Grant Morrison will be in conversation with Gerard Way on Saturday 5 October, covering both of their careers plus a broad scope of topics encompassing music, art, creativity and all things in between. Morrison will also join fellow masters Dave McKean and Len Wein for a panel discussion called The Creation Myth on Sunday 6 October. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and not something any self-respecting comics fan will want to miss.
Wolverine and Swamp Thing co-creator Len Wein will also be the subject of a Creator Focus on the Saturday, as well as holding a workshop shares some of the secrets and stories behind his illustrious writing career.
Art Spiegelman, the author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Maus, collaborates with Phillip Johnston on WORDLESS!, “a brand new and stimulating hybrid of slides, talk and musical performance exclusively commissioned for GRAPHIC, he probes further into the nature and possibilities of his medium”. Exclusive to Sydney, it will also be on Saturday 5 October.
In another world premiere live performance, GRAPHIC presents The Sandman and Coraline artist Dave McKean in his newest project 9 Lives. Six original McKean songs and three stories narrated by McKean accompanied by his still images, film clips and animation.
