IDW has announced that they will publish the collection of Ryan K. Lindsay and Eric Zawadski’s HEADSPACE, originally published on digital platforms via Monkeybrain.
HEADSPACE takes place in Carpenter Cove, where it becomes apparent to sheriff Shane that everything in the town is actually a construct within the mind of a killer. However, as he begins to search for a way back to his normal life, he begins to realise that there is imagery in the killer’s mind that links to some darker moments of his past.
Australia’s own Lindsay will be familiar to readers and listeners of Behind The Panels. A past guest on one of our live shows, his books Fatherhood, Deer Editor and recent piece in CMKY have been favourites of ours, and indicative of the versatility of his writing. He describes HEADSPACE as “Philip K. Dick insanity in a John Carpenter flick tone.”
Meanwhile, Eric Zawadzki’s name might be familiar to readers of Last Born or his webcomic The Ghost Engine. As we said way back in our review for issue #1, his “pencils creatively skirt the lines between grounded small town sheriff and the fantastic in fairly rapid succession…a genre-blending line art that is just as comfortable in a seedy run-down bar as it is in the clouds with dragons.”
“HEADSPACE is a personal tale Eric and I started kicking around over two years ago. It’s been an honor to have it digitally distributed by Monkeybrain Comics, and to be able to bring in amazing talent like Sebastian Piriz, Marissa Louise, Chris Peterson, Chris Kosek, and Dan Hill in various guises has been a collaborative blast. Having the collection now through IDW is so, so cool..”
You can pick up the trade in April via IDW, or you can get them all digitally right now through Monkeybrain/Comixology. If you like the trade, then watch that digital space for HEADSPACE #6 through #8 coming out later this year.
