Marvel has announced the May release of Castle: Unholy Storm, a 112-page hardcover that ties into the ABC Studios series Castle starring Nathan Fillion. Writer Cullen Bunn and artists Robert Atkins and Will Sliney will bring the fictional author’s works to life in what is rapidly becoming a meta spiral.
The return of the Marvel original graphic novel has been a welcome addition to the shelves of readers interested in strong, self-contained stories. This one follows the previous successful adaptations of the fictional Richard Castle’s novel Deadly Storm and A Calm Before the Storm, which were in reality written by the likes of written by Brian Michael Bendis, Kelly Sue DeConnick and Peter David.
The Marvel press thing has some additional information about the direction of the book:
Derrick Storm is back and he has a new, deadly case to solve. When the daughters of four high-powered international businessmen are discovered dead in New York, the NYPD scrambles to bring the murderer to justice. But when a fifth girl is found mutilated in a pool of her own blood, her prestigious French family hires Derrick Storm to run his own investigation and find the real killer. Storm has only one lead – a strange symbol drawn in blood. Storm enlists the help of the beautiful and daring Clara Strike, his CIA handler. Together they uncover a deep web of deception under the guise of mysticism and devotion.
Castle: Unholy Storm brings together a star-studded cast of the best creators in the industry, including writer Cullen Bunn (Fearless Defenders,Venom), interior artists Robert Atkins (Amazing Spider-Man) and Will Sliney (Fearless Defenders) along with cover artist Carlo Pagulayan (Iron Man,Hulk).
So to recap, this is a comic based on the works of an author who is actually a character in a television series played by Nathan Fillion. Maybe it is true: all geekdom really does lead back to Fillion.
Castle: Unholy Storm is released on 6 May 2014 from Marvel.
