Marvel announces that Netflix has ordered a second season of DAREDEVIL for the streaming service in 2016.
It’s unsurprising given the massive commercial and critical acclaim that the first series has received, but Marvel has confirmed via a press release that a second season of DAREDEVIL will drop in 2016.
Marvel series plans had so far extended to Marvel’s A.K.A. Jessica Jones (later in 2015), Marvel’s Luke Cage (2016), Marvel’s Iron Fist and culminating in the team-up, Marvel’s Defenders. This might explain why Doug Petrie (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “American Horror Story”) and Marco Ramirez (“Sons of Anarchy”) will serve as the new showrunners on Season 2.
“While previous commitments unfortunately prevent me from continuing on with Daredevil into its second season,” first season showrunner Steven DeKnight explains, “I could not be happier that Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez are carrying the torch. They were invaluable collaborators during our first season, and I for one can’t wait to see what they do with the show moving forward.”
