Oz Comic-Con has just announced that Marvel’s international talent scout, C.B. Cebulski, will be attending the Sydney show at the Harbour Expo in September. Aspiring creators: start getting those portfolios ready and form an orderly queue.
As a writer and editor for Marvel, Cebulski is perhaps best known for his work on the Marvel Fairy Tales, and his Runaways spin-off series Loners with Karl Moline.
In addition to travelling the world and meeting new talent, Cebulski also runs a food blog called Eataku. Sharing his international epicurian adventures with the world, he notes “when not meeting artists or reviewing portfolios, I keep my batteries charged by exploring the culinary culture and cuisine of whatever city or country I find myself in.”
With almost 40,000 followers on Twitter (@CBCebulski), Cebulski was named one of “The Best Tweeters in Comics” by IGN in 2013. They note that he’s “the man to follow if you’re looking to break into comics. He frequently posts links that are essential to writers, artists, letterers, and everything in between.”
Speaking with Behind the Panels last month, Oz Comic-Con organiser Carissa Avenhouse told us how important it was to give local creators an opportunity to have access to talent scouts from the US. She added that short of travelling to US conventions, few opportunities presented themselves to local creators to get such an immediate appraisal of their talents.
Details about his visit will be found on www.ozcomiccon.com. Oz Comic-Con Sydney is 13-14 September 2014.
