OZ COMIC-CON PERTH/ADELAIDE is virtually bursting at the seams already, and is now set to pop its culture all over the south and west of Australia with the addition of three freshly announced guests. GAME OF THRONES fans will get both Ser Loras Tyrell and Podrick Payne with FINN JONES and DANIEL PORTMAN making the trip to the southern hemisphere. Comic book fans won’t be missing out on international talent either, with the legendary artist BRIAN STELFREEZE making his way to OCC as well.
This continues a Game of Thrones theme for the Con, having previously brought Portman out to Melbourne, alongside his gargantuan co-star Kristian Nairn (Hodor). The massively popular HBO series had an average of almost 7 million viewers per episode in the US alone last year, and the duo will hit Perth mere days before the April 13 debut of Season 5 of the popular HBO series.
Batman: Shadow of the Bat #43 (DC Comics) – Artist: Brian Stelfreeze
Meanwhile, BRIAN STELFREEZE brings with him the distinction of having painted 50 consecutive Batman: Shadow of the Bat covers between 1992 and 1996. He has provided cover art and interiors for DC and Marvel, along with several other publishers, including Image Comics/12 Gauge Comics’ The Ride and Gun Candy. Stelfreeze;s current project is Day Men for Boom! Studios, who hadn’t worked on a longer project since 2005’s Matador for WildStorm. Day Men follows a vampire mob enforcer who does what his bosses can’t: get about during those sunshiny hours of the day.
Stelfreeze will join international comic book artists Francis Manapul (The Flash) and Australia’s Nicola Scott (Earth 2, Convergence: New Teen Titans). Other comics creators announced so far also include Andrew Constant (Torn, Broken Line, Fly), Douglas Holgate (Maralinga) and Stewart McKenny.
Other media guests include Doctor Who and Penny Dreadful‘s Billie Piper, Star Trek‘s Marina Sirtis and Dominic Keating, Buffy alumni Nicholas Brendon, Emma Caulfield and Amber Benson, horror legends Robert Englund and Ken Kirzinger (Freddy vs Jason), Kevin Sorbo and Michael Hurst (Hercules: The Legendary Journeys), Michael Shanks, Ben Browder and Cliff Simon (Stargate: SG-1), Agam Darshi (Sanctuary) and Dominic Keating (Star Trek: Enterprise). Perth and Adelaide are looking like the places to be this year.
