Only days after Oz Comic-Con 2013 came to a close in Melbourne, the organisers have announced that one of Australia’s best comic and pop culture experiences will be expanding to Sydney and Brisbane in 2014!
The cons will be held in the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre and Sydney Exhibition Centre at Glebe Island respectively. On their official site and Facebook page, they made the following announcement for dates:
We’ve already announced our dates for Perth and Adelaide in 2014 (29th & 30th March, and 5th & 6th of April respectively) and now we can announce that we’ll be back in Melbourne on the 5th & 6th of July. More than that however, we’re extremely excited to say that we’ll be adding two more shows to the slate in 2014. Coming on the 6th & 7th of September and the 13th and 14th of September respectively, we’re pleased to announce Oz Comic-Con Brisbane and Oz Comic-Con Sydney! Stay tuned for the first guest announcements for all events coming very soon.
They also reported that 33,000 people went through the doors to the Royal Exhibition Building over the weekend, but you never would have guessed it. Oz Comic-Con remains one of the best organisation conventions in the country, and we can’t wait until they bring the formula to our hometown of Sydney and a little further north to Brisbane.
We will definitely be at the Sydney convention in September next year (only 430 days away at the time of posting!), but until then you can check out our coverage of this year’s con, including our cosplay photos from Day 1 and Day 2 of the Melbourne leg.
The 2014 Oz Comic-Con dates are:
- Perth, WA – March 29 and 30 at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre
- Adelaide, SA – April 5 and 6 at the Adelaide Showground
- Melbourne, VIC – July 5 and 6 at the Royal Exhibition Building
- Brisbane, QLD – September 6 and 7 at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre
- Sydney, NSW – September 13 and 14 at the Sydney Exhibition Centre at Glebe Island
