He may have made a surprise cameo at the end of this week’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but Nick Fury himself (Samuel L. Jackson) has shown he’d make a terrible spy by leaking some casting news from the forthcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Jackson discussed filming schedules and some of his newly cast comrades.
“I don’t think we begin shooting before March of next year,” Jackson said of “The Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the next film to begin shooting in the Marvel universe. ”I know we’re shooting in London, that James Spader is Ultron and going to be the bad guy, and that we added Ms. [Elizabeth] Olsen [who will play the Scarlet Witch], but I don’t know what she’s doing, if she’s on the inside or the outside. I haven’t seen a script.”
Olsen had previously been tipped to play Wanda Maximoff (aka The Scarlet Witch), a character writer/director Joss Whedon has already confirmed will be appearing in the film. In one of those odd quirks of licensing, the characters are available to both Fox and Disney, for the X-Men and Marvel Studios films respectively.
It’s a big couple of years for Olsen. The Martha Marcy May Marlene star will be seen in Kill Your Darlings and the remake of Oldboy this year, along with a role in the Godzilla reboot next year.
Avengers: Age of Ultron is released on 1 May 2015 from Disney.
