Perhaps playing tit for tat with Marvel Studios, who announced two new films last week, Sony has officially announced that they will be releasing sequels to The Amazing Spider-man on 10 June 2016, and 4 May 2018 respectively. This is the first mention we’ve had of a fourth film.
The Amazing-Spider Man 2 currently in production in New York, and is due to hit cinemas next year on 2 May next year. It will star Jamie Foxx as Electro and Paul Giamatti as Rhino.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony vice president Jeff Blake has said “Spider-Man is our most important, most successful, and most beloved franchise, so we’re thrilled that we are in a position to lock in these prime release dates over the next five years.”
In other words: you ain’t getting Spidey back any time soon, Marvel Studios.
