With the first season of Arrow wrapping up in the US earlier this month, and shooting beginning for season 2 in July, we begin to play the speculation game as to where the emerging DC television universe will go. Warning: this article contains spoilers for the end of the first season.
IGN spoke with Oliver Queen himself, who suggested that there will be a change of location in the sophomore season:
We’re just going to find everybody in a different place. I think we’re actually going to find Oliver literally in a different place at the beginning of next year. It’s our second season, but it’s kind of like a new series. So I’m excited.
When we left the hooded vigilante at the end of the first season, it was an explosive finale, bringing at least one chapter in his life to a close. How does his character deal with that major shift?
Not well. The reason that he was the vigilante, the Hood, all that stuff is gone now. Merlyn’s been stopped, the list is essentially somewhat obsolete, the Glades are destroyed. If he’s going to become the vigilante again or something different, he’s gonna need a new reason.
We also got confirmation of the growing roster of DC universe characters, as suggested by star Colton Haynes earlier this month. Amell remains tight-lipped on any potential villains or heroes, but simply adds “Arrow’s world is growing.”
Our full recap and discussion of the first season of Arrow can be found on Episode 58 of the podcast. That does contain some spoilers for the first season, but it’s mostly Richard and David talking about what we love about the show.
