Deadline reports that composer Carter Burwell has exited Thor: The Dark World due to (you guessed it) creative differences.
Burwell is best known recently for his scores to the Twilight Saga and many of the Coen Brothers films, including the wonderful score for True Grit. Deadline’s ‘inside’ is quoted as saying “They like him but it wasn’t the right project.” This marks the second such departure from the production, following the early exit of Patty Jenkins in late 2011. With six months to go until the film is released, there’s plenty of time for Disney to source a new composer.
Thor: The Dark World stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano and Jaimie Alexander with Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins as Odin.
It is set for release in Australia on 31 October 2013, followed by a US release on 8 November.
