The Hollywood Reporter has revealed the 75th anniversary logo for Superman, along with the news that Man of Steel director Zack Snyder and DC animation legend Bruce Timm will team up for a 2 minutes animated short. There will be a “sneak peek of this short is planned for Comic-Con International: San Diego in July and the finished version will debut late summer”, says a press release.
According to the source:
Details for the short are being kept secret (maybe in a lead vault?), but insiders tell Heat Vision Snyder envisioned one continuous shot, without edits, that’s an homage to the Man of Steel and his many iterations over the past 75 years: Max Fleischer’s cartoons, on-screen portrayals by George Reeves and Christopher Reeve, iconic versions drawn by artists Wayne Boring, Curt Swan and Neal Adams, on up through HenryCavill’s interpretation in Man of Steel.
Expect to see this logo everywhere this year. Superman will, of course, also be appearing in the big-budget feature film Man of Steel, the recently released Superman: Unbound DC Universe Animated Original Movie and for DC Nation, “a series of all-new Superman-themed animated shorts produced by Warner Bros. Animation and airing on Cartoon Network’s DC Nation block throughout the year”.
On the comic book front, where it all began for the Last Son of Krypton in 1938, the new series Superman Unchained from the all-star team of Scott Snyder and artist Jim Lee will be released on 12 June.
