Roadshow Films has sent over the first teaser trailer for 300: Rise of an Empire, the prequel to Zack Snyder’s 2006 film 300 from Warner and Legendary Films
The Greek general Themistocles battles an invading army of Persians under the mortal-turned-god, Xerxes. Directed by Noam Murro, it stars Eva Green, Rodrigo Santoro (reprising his role from the first film), Lena Heady, Sullivan Stapleton and Jack O’Connell.
Zack Snyder may not be directing this one, but his legacy of slow motion lives on. The presence of Lena Heady also gives this a definite Game of Thrones vibe, which has to be a good thing, right? The original was a visually faithful adaptation of Frank Miller’s comic series, and it is good to see that continues here. We’ll be keen to see how much of Miller’s plans for a follow-up comic make it into this film. Roll on 2014, another year for geeks (and Greeks)!
300: Rise of an Empire will hit Australian cinemas on 6 March 2014 from Roadshow Films.
