Film: Sony sets dates for ‘Sinister Six’ and ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 3’

Sinister Six - Alex Ross

Columbia Pictures/Sony has announced that it has updated its release schedule for its $4 billion Spider-Man film franchise, with Sinister Six dated for 11 November 2016.

The film will be directed by Drew Goddard (Cabin in the Woods) and produced by Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach. It’s the first of several planned universe expanding films that aim to do for the Spider-Verse what Marvel Studios has done for the Marvel Cinematic Universe over the last six years.

The Sinister Six are a group of villains that come from Spider-Man’s traditional rogue’s gallery of enemies. The line-up has changed over the years, but the original group (appearing in The Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1 in 1964) consisted of Doctor Octopus, VultureElectro,Kraven the HunterMysterio, and Sandman. Later versions have included other villains like Venom, which various reports have indicated the studio is keen to exploit.

They’ve also slated The Amazing Spider-Man 3 for 2018. With any luck it will be better than the last chapter.
